Today on FAN I will cover my final alternative way to end the Undertaker’s Streak at Wrestlemania (final for now anyways), this time using Drew McIntyre and The Authority (HHH mostly).
To start, Drew would abandon his two 3MB teammates and put them out with a vicious and brutal attack after beating them 2v1 at something relatively far away from Wrestlemania such as Money in the Bank. Drew would then be entered in the Money in the Bank match and win it, it being revealed much later that The Authority have handpicked Drew to be their “guy.”
The Authority would talk about how much potential Drew has and how Vince saw something in him long ago, that they see too only they won’t be so quick to abandon him. At the same time, they would make Drew prove himself worthy to be their “guy” and their champion (for the future).
The first challenge they would give Drew is to win the upcoming King of the Ring tournament (this challenge would also be the first announcement of the tournament) that started that RAW and ended at Summerslam. Drew would defeat the likes of Big Show, Christian, and Rey Mysterio on his way to the finals and would finally come face to face with Sheamus for the title of King of the Ring. Drew would win a brutal no DQ match and would thus be crowned King McIntyre.
Drew would continue his tear by defeating both the Intercontinental and United States champions in a triple threat match the next PPV, which would allow him to challenge the title of whomever he pinned. He would pin and thus challenge Dean Ambrose, and at the next Pay Per View, he’d beat Ambrose to win the United States (changed to United Kingdom) championship.
Drew would come out with the belt (with a Scottish flag on it now), a robe similar to what he had before but more royal this time, and the briefcase. The Authority would congratulate him on a job well done, and give him a shot at the WWE championship (against Randy Orton, their other chosen champion, but one they lost faith in). Drew would come close, down to kicking out of an RKO and even hitting Randy with his Future Shock DDT, and his UK belt, but he would ultimately lose.
With this loss, The Authority would act shocked that he lost and start to question him, but ultimately dismiss it as “he’s young” and it’s only 1 mistake. They would then set his next challenge: to win the Royal Rumble.
Again Drew would do well, and would end up as the final 3 (he’d be the one to eliminate Sheamus this time), but he’d eventually be eliminated by Roman Reigns.
With this failure, The Authority would seriously start to question their decision as that’s 2 mistakes in a row. They’d play on the whole ‘3 strikes and you’re e out’ rule and give Drew the task of winning the Elimination Chamber, saying that he better not screw it up.
The pattern would continue with Drew being close to winning, the final two, but he’d lose, again to Randy Orton the reigning WWE champion, but only due to screwed up revenge by Daniel Bryan going for a running knee on Orton after being eliminated.
Drew would break down after the match and throw a tantrum, breaking things, throwing things, etc. The next night on RAW, The Authority will say that they warned him about making 3 consecutive mistakes, especially mistakes so big, and that they’d have to officially dismiss him as their “guy”. Unless….Drew completed a monumental task that many greats before him couldn’t: defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
Drew would be hesitant, but he’d accept, and as soon as he signed the contract and shook HHH’s hand, the lights would go out, the gong would play, and Undertaker would appear in the ring and chokeslam him.
Throughout the weeks, Drew would be plagued by Taker and show clear fear of him and his powers. He would lose a grudge match against Daniel Bryan (to avenge the running knee at Elimination Chamber) that he had clear control of, due to the lights turning off, the gong, and then…nothing. Nothing except him turning around and into Daniel Bryan’s running knee.
Only the night before Wrestlemania will Drew get the upper hand as Taker tries to Tombstone him, but he slips out, hits Taker with a lowblow, and then the Future Shock DDT. Drew would look on amazed, confused, dazed, and shocked, but then he’d smirk and hold his hand up in victory. The Undertaker would then situp and stare Drew down to end that RAW.
At Wrestlemania, their match would be brutal and very physical. Drew would put everything on the line, he’d bleed, he’d use weapons, exhaust his finishers, everything, but Taker would keep getting up. At one point he’d be Tombstoned and when the ref nearly counts to 3, HHH’s music plays and some random goons (heels) would try to interfere in the match.
The goons would all be easily disposed of with chokeslams and Tombstones, and one would even get a chairshot to the head off, but Taker would be unaffected. While he’s distracted, Drew would blast Taker with his belt to the back of the head, and then a Future Shock DDT on said belt. Again Taker would kick out, and Drew would start to get frustrated. He’d begin another brutal beatdown, a flurry of punches, kicks, chairshots, and even waiting for Taker to get up and hit him in the head. with the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Drew would then dig under the ring and find the weapon he needs (he’d even smirk when he held it up): a sledgehammer (shades of HHH). He would hit Taker dead in the head with the sledgehammer, and then bash his head in with it many times against the mat. Then, in a move of cockiness, he’d go for a Tombstone against Taker to end it, but Taker would end up reversing it. Drew would then wiggle out of the Tombstone and hit a reverse DDT and transition it into a submission finisher of his (whether he used it before this, or debuted it here, it doesn’t matter): The Dragon Sleeper.
He would hold it in for a long time, but Taker would still have life, until HHH himself walked down and told the ref to ring the bell, ending the match in a screwjob. Drew would win, ending the Streak and guaranteeing himself and HHH to be truly hated villains for the rest of their careers. HHH would enter the ring and raise Drew’s hand in victory, but then Taker would recover and look to chokeslam HHH. Before he can, Drew would blast him with the sledgehammer again, and HHH would hit him with a Pedigree. Finally Drew would pick him up for one last Future Shock DDT and end Wrestlemania posing with HHH over Taker’s prone body (with the 21-1 graphic).
Drew would brag endlessly about his victory the next night, and The Authority would praise him, saying that they didn’t know he had it in him (to play dumb). They would remark on how he did something not even the greats could do, and that he’s proved himself to be a true champion and the right choice.
Taker would come out and attack everybody, and even torment Drew week to week, but this time Drew would fight back with confidence, though Taker would always get up. This would culminate at Extreme Rules with Drew defeating Taker 1v1 after yet another brutal and physical No DQ match, that he’d end with a Future Shock on his Money in the Bank Briefcase, and then a Tombstone for good measure.
He’d eventually become champion with his Money in the Bank briefcase (before or after losing the UK/US title, doesn’t matter) and would be the corporate champion as well as the cocky young heel that the crowd loves to hate.
Ending the Streak this way allows not only a very young talent like Drew to be made into a star and get major heat (dislike by the fans) but for HHH, the new big bad authority figure to establish himself as a lifetime villain as well. Drew would become a huge star and HHH now has eternal heat that he can transfer to other heels should he choose to or be used to build up a new face (good guy/hero).
