WIR: Top 5 Finishers in the WWE in the 2010’s Era – #2 The Spear

Roman Reign’s spear comes in at #2 due to the explosiveness if the move, the impact of the move, and mostly the execution of the move.

Roman Reign’s spear, like most if not all finishers on this list can be hit from many different positions. It can be an out of nowhere finisher, a finisher that’s hit on someone diving from the top rope aka a mid air finisher, and more.

Mid-air Spear

Like two of the finishers listed (Trouble in Paradise and Brogue Kick), the Spear can also be used as a set up finisher, with a taunt and then the hit. Also like those two(though this spot is used for the spear FAR MORE than the others), the spear can be used to interrupt an opponent’s finisher and even change the match from a guaranteed loss to a guaranteed win. The spear can also be used as a gruesome finisher or spot outside of the ring, spearing people through the barricade for example, which gives it a bit of an edge over other finishers.

Spear out of Nowhere

But something that the spear can do that none of the other finishers can do on this list, is that it can be hit on two opponents at once. That’s right, the spear can easily be turned to a double spear simply by having two targets next to each other. Neither the Brogue Kick, nor the Trouble in Paradise, nor Sister Abigail can lay claim to such a feat.

Double Spear

The number one reason why the spear is so high on the list is not the different positions it can be hit in (though it is a reason in itself) or how many people it can be hit on, but the fact that it looks more intense and is executed the best of the finishers so far. It looks like a vicious move that could take out anyone. It almost makes you question if it’s real or not.

And like the Sister Abigail and Brogue Kick, a number of superstars have fallen to the Spear. Daniel Bryan, Batista, Triple H, John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Kane, and more have all fallen victim to it. And more are to come.
