Vixen aka Mari McCabe is a superheroine with the powers to use the abilities of any animal on Earth. To do this she uses the Tantu Totem to tap into the Earth’s Morphogenetic Field also known as The Red. While she can tap into The Red on her own, her range is only 150ft without the totem, while it is planetwide with it.
Vixen has shown the ability to copy up to 3 animals at once, and has even copied the abilities of animals with superhuman powers such as Gorilla Grodd.
As a young girl, Mari was orphaned early by poachers (led by a man named Kwesi) and her uncle General Maksai who wanted the Tantu Totem for himself (it had been in her father’s possession). Vixen traveled to the United States and used her beauty to become a well-known fashion model. She used her wealth to travel the world and subsequently back to Africa where she stole the Tantu Totem from her uncle and used it and its abilities to become Vixen.
Originally she was a reluctant heroine until Aquaman reorganized the Justice League and she applied for full time membership.
During her time as a hero, she worked with the likes of Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman, Huntress, Animal Man, Martian Manhunter, Red Arrow, and more. She has worked for different teams such as the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Ultramarine Corps and more.
She has also battled the likes of Despero (someone who can and has defeated the entire Justice League), Amazo (same as Despero), Shadow Thief, Gorilla Grodd ( a powerful telepath), and even Black Lanterns.
There was a time when she temporarily lost her powers to copy animals and could only use abilities from other superhumans such as Superman, Flash, and the like. She was also ale to copy skills such as the marksmanship from Red Arrow.
Vixen’s powers have allowed her to catch bullets, heal wounds extremely fast, wound Despero (something most people can’t do) and Superman, destroy Amazo (something the entire Justice League couldn’t do at the time), lift tanks, spit poison, shoot a light beam from her head, and even shield herself from an attack from a bloodlusted Superman.
Overall her abilities make her a powerful asset to the Justice League and one of the most versatile members as well.
