Batman vs. Captain America Part 3: The Winner

Batman vs. Captain America

In Part 1 I discussed how Batman can win and his advantages. In Part 2 I discussed how Captain America can win and his advantages. Part 3 will be discussing who wins and why.

First, let’s compare their strength. While both are easily superhuman in many ways, Captain America seems to be stronger as far as lifting. Striking power they’re similar with Batman breaking down missile proof doors and cracking bazooka proof glass, but ultimately Cap has the strength advantage with some ridiculous feats such as pulling trucks and catching torpedoes mid-air.

Strength: Advantage Cap (miniscule)

The next attribute to compare is their speed and agility. Both men have easily dodged gunfire, lasers, and various projectiles, and clearly have superhuman reflexes. Batman has done movements in a blink of an eye, and Cap officially sees in slow motion which allows him ample time to dodge bullets and the like after they’re fired. Overall, both are very agile, but it seems that Batman has the advantage of being swift with his speed, whereas Cap is more mechanical and deliberate with his. Cap will still dodge projectiles and outrun a car and whatnot, but Batman will weave through a group of 100 ninjas, disarming them at the same time while none of them get a hit on him.

Speed: Advantage Batman (slight)

Now to move away from physical attributes, it’s time to compare their fighting ability. Captain America has claimed to be adept at every style and has fought skilled martial artists like Black Panther, Iron Fist, Wolverine, and Taskmaster, and has defeated each one of them.

Batman officially knows 127 styles, knows nerve strikes, and has taken on some of the most skilled martial artists in DC such as Lady Shiva, Azrael, Ras Al Ghul, and Richard Dragon, and has stalemated or defeated each of them as well. The difference between the two is that Batman actually displays his fighting skills more often and doesn’t seem to lose as much as Cap does to the higher tier martial artists. So overall, Batman has the advantage.

Fighting Skills: Advantage Batman (slight)

Finally, the deciding factor in this epic battle is the equipment of both men. Captain America has his shield, a vibranium/adamantium alloy that blocks nearly any and everything and can be thrown as a projectile. Cap uses it often in close range as a shield bash, and as a projectile that will ricochet and catch opponents from behind. And the shield is quite hard, able to break through bone and metal and hurt very durable people like Wolverine.

Batman has the utility belt, and with it he has batarangs, flash grenades, tear gas grenades, and other gadgets he just happens to carry around from time to time. His batarangs are very diverse and versatile, allowing him to be ready for nearly any situation. Gadgets like the batarang (explosive, acidic, taser, etc.) will work against Cap, especially since the batarang takes its name from the boomerang, and thus will be able to avoid the shield by hooking and attacking Cap from behind. Add on the batnet, cryogenic grenades, sonic grenades, and so on, and it allows Batman to take the slight majority of their fights.

Equipment: Advantage Batman

Batman wins due to how close these two are in every physical stat, and the fact that his equipment is better than Cap’s and more versatile. But it’s still a close fight that Batman barely wins.

Batman wins 5.5/10

The Dark Knight Prevails.

Batman wins
