Characters That Would Get A HUGE Power Boost in the Marvel/DC Universes

As fans of many different characters in different fictional universes, we’ve all had that thought. “What if X was in the Marvel or DC Universe? How awesome would that be?” Now some want a direct transposition with no real changes, while others imagine the character making a full transition, back story and all, into the universes. this article is for the latter, more specifically for characters that would become much more powerful should they be moved.

Xena (Xena: Warrior Princess)

Xena, Warrior Princess is a uber-trained fighter with a set of skills and gear that allows her to take on droves of bandits and other enemies, as well as entire armies. More importantly, Xena has dealings with gods like Ares and Hercules, and has even eaten Ambrosia, the food of the gods that gives her special powers.

Translating Xena to the Marvel and DC Universes means that these gods she’s fighting are on the level of Superman and the like, and basically turns her into Wonder Woman-lite. Add on actual god powers and gear that can hurt the gods, and Xena goes from a Jason Bourne/Captain America/Black Widow level fighter to a heavy hitter the likes of Thor, Hulk, and Superman.

Sam and Dean Winchester (Supernatural)

Sam and Dean are master hunters. They fight all types of monsters such as vampires, werewolves, wendigos, etc. and even begin delving heavily angels, demons, and gods. In the Supernatural-verse, Sam and Dean are basically normal humans with good training and proper gear. Translated to Marvel and DC, they’d be fighting demons like Mephisto, Lucifer, Ghost Rider, and so on. In certain circumstances (DC Universe), the angels and demons get to incredibly powerful levels, the kind that make Superman look like an ant. To even stand up to these types of beings, Sam and Dean would get a heavy power jump in many ways, and essentially become akin to John Constantine and others like him. But since they don’t even use magic, they’d actually have to be even more powerful than Constantine since they don’t have that crutch.

Sonic (Sonic The Hedgehog)

Sonic, the blue hedgehog, is known for his extreme speed. He moves faster than sound, and in some mediums, moves even faster than light. So how do the Marvel and DC Universes make him better? Easy. As shown in a Marvel/DC crossover, sufficiently fast people get automatic access to the Speedforce, the energy field that powers The Flash. The Speedforce allows The Flash to do things such as travel through time, run on air, heal faster than normal, and move hundreds of times the speed of light, and so on.

In other words, Sonic gets to move faster than he normally does, AND he gets access to an entire array of nonsensical powers due to his connection to the Speedforce.

Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

One thing is constant in both the Marvel and DC Universes: magic is brokenly powerful. Magic is so overpowered that whenever it’s NOT the solution to something, it’s seen as plot getting in the way. How does this affect Hermione? Well obviously Hermione is a witch, having been taught in the prestigious school known as Hogwarts, but that’s not it. In both Universes (Marvel’s especially), studying magic makes one more powerful and increases the power of spells. It also gives the user nearly infinite versatility, and as we all know, study is basically Hermione’s middle name.

With her high IQ and love of studying and reading, Hermione would go from lovable quirky member of Harry’s gang (the brains of the operation), to uber powerful magic mega god.

Ben 10 (Ben 10)

Ben 10’s main power is his Omnitrix, a device that stores the DNA of alien races and allows him to transform into said aliens. Ben uses this to transform into different aliens depending on the situation. Whether it be Way Big for strength or Diamondhead for…defense. He usually has one for any circumstance.

Now thrust him into Marvel or DC with all of their ridiculously strong aliens for him to assimilate. Ben 10 essentially is THE big dog as he has access to terrifying aliens such as the New Gods (Darkseid’s race), the Green Martians (Martian Manhunter, which gives him telepathy, super strength, super speed, super durability, and shapeshifting among other powers), Kryptonians (Superman’s race), Asgardians (Thor), Skrull and Kree (members of their races are as strong as anyone), and then the big ones such as say…Celestials or 5th Dimensional Imps. He could potentially add multiversal levels of power to his repertoire in an instant, and even make a case for nigh omnipotence.

As shown above, SOME characters would be stupidly overpowered if they transferred to the Marvel/DC Universe, but surely the opposite can be said for some of the characters already existing in those universes. The right crossover just needs to be found…
